Have you been charged with theft of motor vehicle fuel? This change can have serious ramifications for your license and your life. The Secretary of State will immediately suspend your license upon proof of such a conviction, meaning you will not be able to drive, and if you do you will face a misdemeanor driving while license suspended charge. Unless you can afford a driver, or have friends or family who are willing and able to drive you around, this will present a real problem in maintaining employment, familial, and community obligations. I was recently charged with ‘Theft of Motor Vehicle Fuel’ (<$20, worth) while in Clare County Michigan. After my conviction, I received a 6-month suspension of my license. My court-appointed attorney consulted me that this charge would only bring the SOS to suspend my license for 3 months (compared to the 6 which I received notice for). Is this an accurate suspension? I am 22 with a decent driving record (2 Speeding's at age 16 and 19, as well as a rolled stop sign at age 21). If not, is there any way to address the issue at hand?
I am truly sorry for my for my actions, however the; arrest, 1000+ dollars in fines as well as loss of employment (as is for the next 6 months) and dismissal from school because of this case has created some sense of aggravation with the 'system', and I am prepared to fight this case in any way possible.
